This recipe ended up being an interesting story. I was at the grocery store looking at the lamb, thinking how expensive it was, when I saw some packages that were marked previously frozen and a lot cheaper. I didn't care about the previously frozen, it was going in stew anyway, so into the cart they went. Got home and as I put them in the fridge, re-read the label and realized they were not lamb, but goat. So, we had goat stew, minus the turnip because I could not find one, and with only a couple peas, because the bag of peas I had in my freezer only had about a quarter cup. Anyway, the soup turned out really good! I even told my hubby it was goat and we ate all of it!

ReplyDeleteThanks, it was so funny!
DeleteInteresting choice of meat - seriously, your Navarin Printanier looks like it tasted delicious. Glad that you and your family enjoyed the stew! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too!
DeleteHilarious about the goat! Will you buy it again? Sounds like it was a success. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I probably would buy it again, it was pretty good!
DeleteOh, I love this. What does goat taste like? You have a stellar husband if he will try goat. I just don't know if I could go there. At least you saved some little lamb from being slaughtered.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was good, the meat was almost sweet and really tender. Yeah, my hubbie is a real trooper, there are only a couple things he won't eat!
DeleteGoat stew...wow..it must be great. Maybe I shuld try with goat meat the next time I make this stew again. A delicious one and I used leg of lamb though :p Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Next time, I will try the lamb!
DeleteGoat stew…very interesting! I have never eaten goat…sounds like you enjoyed it! I second the question from Mary…what does it taste like?

DeleteWow...goat. I'm In awe that you can even buy goat! Label reading can be as challenging as recipe reading! It looks good though!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Seriously, it was right on the label, I just didn't even notice.
DeleteBeats my improvisation hands down! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! I can very much relate!
ReplyDeleteYou persevered! And it sounds like it really was worth the effort!
Thanks! It was an adventure!
DeleteI went to the market yesterday without my reading glasses and it´s a miracle I ended up buying lamb. Great thing you did it with goat anyway!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am glad it turned out good!
DeleteYou've invented a whole new dish! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one with goat. I didn't have time to make my FFwD recipe this week, but this one sounds worth coming back to try :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is definitely a good one!
DeleteI applaud you for using goat! So many would have just given up but I love your adventurous spirit! Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Figured, why not!
DeleteGoat stew! Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love goat! I love lamb too. Some people complain that lamb is too gamey (which I don't), but I agree with you that goat is almost sweet. Yum! Nice job, Erin!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We like lamb, but this was our first time with goat!
DeleteLOL - I love it. Like you, I generally use up what I have, so if I didn't have too many peas, I would have left it at that. I loved this stew and would happily try it with goat.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Next time (or when lamb is on sale), I am going to try it with lamb!
DeleteOk, I had not considered goat as an option, but heck yes! :) I love that you liked it after all. Had you had goat before?
