Tart dough ready for oven!
If you notice, I made a big tart to take to a BBQ and a little tart for hubby and me to try last night. Well, in my infinite wisdom, I forgot that the little tart would cook quite a bit faster. Yeah, it burned and I ended up throwing it away.

Caramelizing the bananas
These were a great idea in concept, but mine turned into a mushy banana mess of butter and sugar caramely goodness! Totally worked out, just spread it on the bottom!

Ganache
The ganache was really easy to make, I did it all in one pot! It was funny, I was stirring it and eating Swiss Chard chips at the same time hoping that no Swiss Chard fell in the ganache!

Final yummy!
So, we ended up eating slices out of the big tart, luckily the BBQ today is with family and they don't care! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I'm impressed you were able to get a large and baby tart shell made. I was only able to make five tartlets. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI used the nutella on the bottom and sliced banana on top. I thought
ReplyDeleteit was good, the ganache was so easy to make, I surprised myself.
I plan to do this again and use either raspberries or strawberries.
I love the final photo of the ganache
plain, it looks delicious. Have a great weekend.
Your tart came out beautifully! Funny how relaxed we can be with family…just the way it’s supposed to be! Enjoy your cookout today…I’m sure everyone will enjoy your tart!
ReplyDeleteYour tart is lovely- what luscious ganache (that's the part I screwed up somehow??). I enjoy your neat blog-
ReplyDeleteI think double the caramelized banans would have been good...
ReplyDeleteHmmm - swiss chard ganache. Sounds like a concept.
Have a great weekend.
Erin, your Chocolate Banana Tart looks wonderful and I am quite sure that the guests at the BBQ were quite happy that you brought it along for dessert!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the weekend!
Your tart looks so delicious that I'm sure your family was happy you shared at all!! I did the Nutella hazelnut version. I think the caramelized bananas sound fantastic. I'd like to try it one of these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a decadent contribution to your family's BBQ! Hope they enjoyed it. It actually looks very nice without the bananas on top.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lucky BBQ crowd. Our decadent leftovers went up to my older son's school where I told him to feed it to the scavengers :) The kids went nuts - they love leftovers from our house. I was just afraid I would eat it all.....Nana had great results as well though she went the nutella route. I will revisit this one with raspberries for sure.
ReplyDeleteI really loved those caramelized bananas. Mine fell apart too, so I just spread it in the bottom. It was so delicious, I wished there were more. I hope your family enjoyed their BBQ dessert.
